Pair This: Baked Eggs & Sparkling Wine

Whether you prefer Champagne, Cava, Prosecco or an Oregon Sparkling Wine, this quick and easy baked egg breakfast not only looks incredibly appetizing, but it pairs well with any brut style bubbly of your choice, and it’s simply delicious.

Ingredients:

4 tbsp butter, softened

8 eggs

1 cup grated, shredded or shaved Gruyere cheese

4 tbsp heavy cream, heated

salt and pepper to taste

~~

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Butter four 10 oz. ramekins and break two eggs into each one. Cover each portion with 1 tbsp heavy cream, 1/4 cup of cheese and season with salt and pepper. Bake for approximately 10-15 minutes depending on desired yolk consistency. (I like my yolks to be runny, so usually 10 minutes of baking time is enough for me.)

Wa-la, as easy as that you’ve got a delicious breakfast, and the rich flavors of the Gruyere cheese are a perfect pairing with your favorite dry sparkling wine.

We had ours with the Capitello Brut Oregon Sparkling Wine and added a fruit salad on the side, and it was scrumptious! Oh, how I love Saturday mornings…
