What’s In My Glass Today?

Technically, this is what was in my glass yesterday, but that little bit of sunshine that came out towards the end of the day had me sitting on the patio until I was just too cold to stay; therefore, I was enjoying the wine too much to sit down and write about it. So, here I am, a day late, to tell you about a wine well worth writing about.

Vitis Ridge 2011 Oregon Pinot Gris: I love this fruity, citrusy gem from my neighbors to the north, just outside of Salem, in Silverton, Oregon. I imagined myself on the beaches of the Bahamas with this one. On the nose there’s loads of mango and grapefruit, and on the palate, juicy granny smith apples ends with a beautiful lemon-lime zesty finish.

This is such a food friendly wine. Salads, light cheeses like Havarti and Gouda and shellfish will pair perfectly. Next time I open a bottle of the 2011 Vitis Ridge Pinot Gris, which will be very soon, I’ll be enjoying it with an Oregon Dungeness Crab Salad.
