Pair This: Mythology Chardonnay & Chicken Salad

This beauty of a Chardonnay was suggested to me via a Facebook friend who said one of her favorite Oregon Chardonnays was produced by a lady named Sarah Horner out of the Eola-Amity Hills region of Oregon, a sub-appelation of the Willamette Valley AVA. The Chardonnay that was suggested was the 2009 Mythology Chardonnay.

Since I was completely unfamiliar with the suggested Chardonnay, I contacted Sarah Horner directly to see where I may be able to purchase a bottle locally. Although her Chardonnay was not available in my immediate area, Horner offered to ship me a bottle, and I eagerly accepted.

The 2009 Mythology Chardonnay been in my fridge for a couple days, and while I was in the middle of making a Chicken Salad Sandwich today, I grabbed the bottle of Mythology out of the fridge and poured myself a glass.

With its gorgeous pale-golden hue, I immediately caught the distinctive and wonderful Chardonnay grape aroma, in addition to scents of  apple, tropical fruit and vanilla. A velvety textured entrance leads to a full bodied, yet not overly rich, wine with well rounded flavors of melon and lemon with a hint of butterscotch. The finish is bright, crisp and long.

The velvety texture of the wine was a match made in heaven with the thick and creamy homemade mayonnaise on the sandwich, and all the flavors complimented each other. I took my sandwich and glass of wine out on the patio, put my feet up, and enjoyed a little sun and warm air.
