Summertime ¡Salud! Photo Essay and the Next ¡Salud! Event

Organizations like ¡Salud! make me proud to be a part of the great state of Oregon and our thriving wine industry.  ¡Salud! was created by a group of Oregon winery owners and Tuality Healthcare physicians to provide healthcare to thousands of seasonal vineyard workers.  Supported by fundraisers, ¡Salud! The Oregon Pinot Noir Auction and other generous contributions, access to healthcare and healthcare education to seasonal vineyard workers and their families has been provided since 1992.

Lucky enough to attend the incredible International Pinot Noir Celebration (IPNC) this past summer, I was a guest at the pre-IPNC dinner and auction Summertime ¡Salud! The Big Dinner that took place at the gorgeous Stoller Family Estate in the Dundee Hills of the Willamette Valley.  Fourteen wineries, including some of my favorites from Oregon, California and France were there pouring their wines for the Big Bottle Reception, as well as alongside a fabulous dinner that was provided by Allison Inn & Spa (sponsors for the event) and the Executive Chef of JORY, Sunny Jin.  Many of the wines; including wines that were exclusively crafted for this event, were bid on and sold to attendees of the dinner – 100% percent of the sales benefited ¡Salud!.

The next ¡Salud! event will be held November 8 and 9, 2013.  A $395 dollar ticket price includes a Pinot Noir tasting of the heralded 2012 vintage and auction on Friday, November 8, 3:00-6:30 pm at the beautiful Domaine Drouhin in Dayton; in addition to, a Saturday evening Dinner and Auction Gala from 5:30-10:00 pm at Portland’s historic Governor Hotel.
