In The Glass: Cornerstone Cellars Willamette Valley Chardonnay 2010

Here’s another awesome wine from Cornerstone Cellars , Oregon brand – the 2010 Willamette Valley Chardonnay. It’s better than excellent, wine lovers.

Last week, I wrote about the 2010 Cornerstone Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, and how Napa Valley’s Craig Camp came up to Oregon to produce stellar Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays with the aid of touted Oregon winemaker, Tony Rynders. His decision to head north is easily understandable – the terroir of the Willamette Valley, although it varies throughout, is pristine for the production of world-class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

While writing the Pinot Noir piece, I discovered that Craig Camp and I both have a long-standing passion for Pinot Noir, and later found out during a Twitter conversation with Craig, that he and I both believe Oregon is the ultimate place for producing the ultimate of Chardonnays. He nailed it with the elegant 2010 Pinot Noir, and this 2010 Chardonnay is right on target too.

The 2010 Cornerstone Cellars Willamette Valley Chardonnay is one of the most gorgeous golden hued Chardonnays I’ve seen in a long time. Aromas of tropical fruits and honeycrisp apples lead way to similar flavors with the addition of clove, lemon and vanilla. Vibrant and super juicy mid-palate, this beauty of a Chardonnay is extremely well balanced and has a lingering finish that keeps you hooked and in love, it’s actually quite…sexy. Yes, sexy. And, I’ve never said that about any other wine, but the word just comes to mind while savoring this ambrosial, polished beauty.
