In The Glass: Oak Knoll Toasted Cow White Vintner’s Blend

photo (80)For just $10 dollars, this is a super fun, well balanced, fruity and slightly sweet white wine from Willamette Valley’s Oak Knoll Winery.  With an interesting blend of Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, Muller Thurgau, Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling, the label with it’s expired cow, legs up in the air, also beckons a bit of interest.  A brief story of the cow and the reasoning behind naming this the White Vintner’s Blend explains it all:

“Diligently working late at night, our winemaker saw a faint white outline of an animal drinking from one of the freshly pressed vats of grapes.   As he approached the tank, the the ghost of the famous 1939 blue ribbon heifer vanishes.  To appease the spirits, we dedicated this wine to the old dairy farm milking cows that haunt our cellar.”

For those of us who are wine geeks: TA: 7 g/l, pH: 3.07, RS: 2.49, Alc. 11%
