Sarver Winery to Host Children’s Book Launch Event & Party: KeeKee’s Big Adventures

While I was in New York City attending the Grand Tasting for the inaugural Snooth People’s Voice Wine Awards, I ran into a wine writing colleague that was one of the people I “clicked” with at last year’s Wine Bloggers Conference.  Delighted to see a friendly face, Northern Virginian Shannon Jones of GrapeOccasions.com (a guide to everything wine, travel and spa), and I immediately starting catching up on what’s been going on in our world of wine from opposite ends of the country.

I was super excited to learn that Shannon had been working on a series of children’s books named KeeKee’s Big Adventures.  KeeKee’s Big Adventures is about a Calico kitty that travels the world in a hot air balloon, with her first stop in Paris.  The book is intended for children 4 to 7 years of age, and with beautiful illustrations and creative stories, these new books are sure to capture the minds of kids while they ” join KeeKee as she explores the sights, sounds, and—yum yum!—tastes of this beautiful and historic city. Young readers will share KeeKee’s delight as she makes new friends, discovers exciting places, and immerses herself in the fascinating French culture. And, they’ll have fun with the kid-friendly pronunciation guide and glossary in the back of the book, along with a unique and charmingly illustrated map of Paris.”

With her first launch party taking place in Alexandria, Virginia just a little over a week away, Shannon would soon after be heading to the West Coast to promote her new book starting in Seattle and heading south through Oregon. Shannon suggested we get together, for a glass of wine of course, when she would be traveling through Eugene. But, with the launch of her new book, we came up with a fun idea. With our common bond of an appreciation for wine, we thought it would be fun to have a launch party for her book at a winery here in Eugene. The first winery that came to mind was Sarver Winery – a winery owned by Chris and Erin Sarver, who have a 5 year old daughter that can often be found running through the vineyards or reading books and playing with small toys on the patio of the tasting room. With the Sarver’s daughter being the perfect age for this new book, and also being the owners of a family-friendly winery (with stellar wine, by the way), what better place for the launch of a children’s book?

Join me and my family (I have two young boys), along with the Sarver family, on April 22, 4-6pm, at Sarver Winery in Eugene for this unique book launch. Meet KeeKee’s Big Adventures author, my friend, Shannon Jones, and enjoy a glass of wine while your children enjoy storytime, face painting, coloring pages and KeeKee tattoos, along with treats and refreshments. The view at Sarver Winery is unmatched – this event will undoubtedly be thoroughly enjoyed by all ages.
