The Divine Iris In My Back Yard

As I walked around my yard this afternoon (enjoying every sip of the incredible King Estate 2009 Blackjack Pinot Noir), I couldn’t help but snap a whole bunch of photos of the Iris that are currently in full bloom.  When I moved to Eugene, Oregon six years ago from Deerfield Beach, Florida, I was in awe over the gorgeous Iris that popped up all over town once Spring was in full swing.  In Florida, there were no flowers that even closely resembled the stately Iris with their vivid, contrasting colors, impressive heights and striking extra-large blossoms – the Iris simply amazed me.

Now my yard is filled with Iris – ranging in color combinations from blue and white to orange and brown, and these beauties still amaze me like no other flower.  This is the Willamette Valley in May.  Oh, how I love Oregon.
