Enjoy Earth, Wind and Wine at the 8th Annual Horse Heaven Hills Trail Drive, Wine Tasting and BBQ Event
This year’s Trail Drive happens on Saturday, July 20 and gives visitors much from which to choose – tastings with growers and owners at area wineries and tasting rooms, a BBQ at Crow Butte Park, and affordable small bus transportation with entertainment by grower guides like Cal Mercer.
You may know that the Horse Heaven Hills AVA is one of the largest grape growing regions in Washington State. And, that it is the source of 25% of Washington’s fruit and home to many of the state’s Top-rated wines from publications such as Wine Spectator and Wine & Spirits. The appellation’s majestic views of the Columbia River and Valley, down-to-earth farmers and absence of congestion (from both traffic and technology) have been known to bring visitors a calm serenity – you start to notice how the dramatic landscape, prevalent wind and absence of congestion bring you back to why you fell in love with wine in the first place.
While it feels like you’ve “gotten away from it all” in the Horse Heaven Hills, in actuality, you’re only three hours from Portland and three and a half from Seattle. It’s not only a great weekend destination; Horse Heaven Hills is a heavenly retreat from the day-to-day stressors of modern life and a peak into a very different and grounded way of living.
